We believe in the potential of these technologies to support and advance our core mission to encourage students to learn and apply their talents to various challenges of today. Furthermore, we believe that both educational outcomes and administrative processes can be enhanced through the appropriate use of GenAI technologies, as long as it is used mostly as a consultative source. We also recognise the importance of appropriately citing or otherwise indicating the extent to which GenAI was used in the production of text or images, where appropriate, according to Druga gimnazija Sarajevo's Academic Integrity Policy and Citing and Referencing guide for students .
2.1 Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)
In the context of this Policy, GenAI and related technologies refers to software platforms and services that mimic human language capabilities. It also refers to mechanized processes that can adapt to input to achieve specific goals. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- ChatGPT
- Bard
- Claude
- Dall-E
- iA Writer etc.
2.2 Use of GenAI and Data

The information derived from these tools is based on previously published materials. Therefore, using these tools without proper citation constitutes plagiarism. Additionally, be aware that the information derived from these tools is often inaccurate or incomplete.
It’s imperative that each work that the student submits must be exclusively his independent work. Any assignment that is found to have been plagiarized or to have used unauthorized AI tools may receive a zero marks and be reported for academic misconduct (refer to Academic integrity policy).
2.2.1 Use prohibited
Use of an GenAI in the IB courses is considered academic misconduct or plagiarism if it is used to create or aggregate synthetic content for the course such as:

When using GenAI tools, student must make full acknowledgement showing:

In cases where a student uses GenAI for an assignment, with permission and acknowledgement, the assignment itself should still be more than 80% independent student work.
Section 3: Detecting the Use of GenAI tools

Evidence of inappropriate AI use will be grounds for submission of an Academic Integrity report. Sanctions will range from a zero for the assignment to an F for the course if the student repeats the malpractice.
If there is any doubt that AI was used in the preparation of school assignments, but it cannot be proven with a direct link to the website that was used, the teacher can check the written text orally, if that is possible.
